For what it's worth, I believe your take on things and I've seen less practical and innovative things on the shelves of the stores you mention; and as they are active here, your question is ideal for Stephen's site "Invent Right" which is all about licensing (I'm just giving you that data as I don't see anyone answering your post; I'd go there and explore to find out more about your options and all that jazz!~)
