Recommendations for contacts 1 Year ago
Does anyone have a recommendation for a good patent attorney that can help guide the development process?

Also, does anyone know where the best forums are where I can test my invention with potential customers -- (e.g. trade show)

I have several attorneys that I use. I always interview them, just like a doctor. They each have different areas of expertise and finding one that understands the language of your industry is very helpful in getting a good patent written.

The best place on earth to test your product is ideatango.com (of course I am a bit bias). You can post your inventions here and even give people the _link_ to look at it, without buying your own website! Just log on and create your pages.

Good luck!

HI -

I would be happy to provide a number of skilled and thorough IP attorneys for you!

As far as learning how consumers will "receive" your invention, the best way to accomplish this is to do an on-line consumer study. Having hundreds of people from across the country weigh on in your idea can have great benefits. It will certainly cost you some money but asking your family and friends is not at all a god way to know if you have a viable product. They love you....and most will tell you your idea is good even if they think otherwise. The important thing to do is to do your homework correctly and get a good cross section of people to view your product and study their opinions. Of course, having no IP protection puts you at great risk for someone copying your idea so make sure you ask an attorney for legal advice first.....Jim

I think that the easiest way to find companies and build relationships with them is to go to the trade shows. They exhibit at industry shows to buyers at least once a year. The biggest show for fitness is SGMA and you can read more at www.sgma.com

Happy Inventing!
