The Future is Bright Thanks to Kid Inventors
Sometimes I wonder if the world will be a better place in 30 years. With all the news we hear only about war, global warming, floods and tornadoes, etc. But after my visit to a couple elementary schools recently, my belief in man kind and the future of our world has been uplifted.
They were just 3rd-5th graders, but their positive spirit and energy rejuvenated my soul. Their teachers and parents had done a very good job in fostering the kids’ curiosity and creativity. This particular year, the kids are studying “inventing” as part of their class. Their teacher Ms. Brown is taking them through the various stages of inventing from idea creation, through market research, to making a prototype.
And these kids, not even pre-teens, just want to make the world a better place. They were full of great ideas and unique ways to solve common problems. Even when they discovered their invention wouldn’t work, or someone else already invented it, they moved forward with optimism, knowing that they would stumble upon something that would work.
Although we may see and hear lots of negative news, this enduring, no-holds-bar optimistic attitude that the next generation demonstrates, proves that everything will be alright. Thanks to their forthcoming innovations, their inventions and ideas, and their curiosity, our world WILL be a better place 30 years from now.
